Rethymno City
The center of the city of Rethymnon is only 7 km away
Rethymno, a city that perfectly encapsulates the essence of Crete, is a treasure trove of history, culture, and natural beauty.
From its Venetian harbour, adorned with a lighthouse that whispers tales of yore, to the narrow streets lined with colourful buildings, every corner of Rethymno tells a story.
The Old Town of Rethymno is a canvas painted with the broad strokes of history and the finer details of Cretan life. Walk through the maze of alleys, where Venetian and Ottoman architecture fusion creates a spellbinding backdrop.
Gerani Beach
The beach of Gerani is located 1 km from the village of Gerani and about 6 km west of Rethymnon, at the exit of the green gorge of Vedera.
Above the beach, the Chania-Rethymnon national road passes through the gorge via the Gerani bridge.
It is a relatively small beach, with pebbles and sand and several places with rocks. It is open to the frequent northerly winds and has little organization. Next to the organisation is a small harbour and the picturesque church of Panagia Kamariani. There are also two freshwater springs nearby.
Petres Beach
Petres Beach is named after the rugged Petre Gorge, whose river ends there and is located 6 km from Gerani.
The area has a few bays with sand and many rocks, the most famous being Vythos. Around there are several
infrastructures, such as rooms, taverns, and a diving school. The central bay, which is more north of the others, has umbrellas and is less sandy. The rocky bottom is ideal for fishing and masking.
Episkopi Beach
Episkopi Beach is located next to Petre Beach, just 8 km from Gerani, and is part of the large beach of Georgioupolis.
The name of the beach comes from the main village of Episkopi Rethymnon, which is located 2 km south.
It is a 3.5km long beach with sand and shallow waters, like most of the beaches of Northern Crete. It is pretty organised with large hotels, tavernas, restaurants, bars and all the amenities one might need.
